Care quality in Scotland

3,885 adult social-care services across 32 council areas and 306 towns, registered and graded by the Care Inspectorate, Scotland's regulator.

Scotland is graded differently from England. The Care Inspectorate grades each service on a scale of 1 (Unsatisfactory) to 6 (Excellent) across themes such as wellbeing, care and support, setting, staff and leadership. This is not the same as, and is not comparable with, the Care Quality Commission's Outstanding / Good ratings used in England. Healthcare such as GPs and dentists is regulated separately in Scotland and is not covered here.
